Workshop Focus: This workshop will equip you with the skills to capture stunning heritage photography for external and internal documentation, photogrammetry, and inspection purposes, focusing on artistic and technical aspects.
Prague's Rich Canvas: Prague's unique architectural tapestry will serve as our living classroom, offering diverse subjects from grand cathedrals to intricate historical details.
Course Outline:
Day 1: Prague's Historical Heart (City Centre Focus)
- Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Introduction & Architectural Exploration
- Meet & greet at a central Prague location.
- Introduction to heritage photography: historical context, capturing architectural details specific to Prague's style.
- Location-based learning: [ Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Old Town Square, and interiors. Focus on capturing unique features and perspectives.
- Technical session: Mastering camera settings for heritage photography (aperture, shutter speed, ISO), utilizing filters (polarizing, ND) for optimal results.
- Lunch break (included) at a traditional Czech restaurant.
- Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Deeper Dive & Post-Processing
- Continued exploration of Prague's hidden architectural gems.
- Introduction to basic post-processing techniques in Lightroom/Photoshop, tailored for heritage photography.
- Early evening session at the hotel, Post-processing.
- Evening: Optional guided pub tour of Prague and night photography session (partners welcome).
Day 2: Advanced Techniques & 3D Applications
- Morning (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM): Photogrammetry Foundations
- Workshop on 32bit Photogrammetry.
- Practical session: Capturing a significant Prague heritage site [e.g., a specific courtyard, garden, or building exterior] for photogrammetric modelling (weather permitting).
- Lunch break (included) at a traditional Czech Restaurant.
- Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Light, Detail, & Weathered Surfaces
- Workshop on photographing historic properties, managing light and reflections, and capturing fine details on weathered facades and flooring.
- Location-based learning at [Specify a second location outside of the city centre or a second location within the city centre that offers different architectural styles].
- Evening: Point Cloud Colourisation Master Class with Riegl and RichPix.
Day 3: Inspection Photography & Practical Applications
- Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Inspection Techniques & 360 Imagery
- Introduction to inspection photography and utilizing 360 imagery: understanding different types of inspections (building, property), and legal documentation requirements.
- Equipment considerations: specialized lenses and lighting for low-light situations and internal capture.
- Techniques for capturing detailed images of defects, cracks, and wear & tear.
- Hands-on practice session: photographing mock inspection scenarios in a training space.
- Techniques for using photography in 3D modelling for Masonry and Stained glass conservation.
- Lunch and Photo reviews at a Prague Pub.
- Afternoon (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM): Review, Post-Processing, & Reporting
- Review and discuss participants' inspection photographs.
- Post-processing techniques for inspection photography: clarity, highlighting specific details.
- Software basics for organizing and reporting inspection images.
- Course wrap-up, Q&A, and feedback.
