Geotagging Imagery Workshop

Discover the Art and Science of Geotaggery

Course Outline: Geotagging and Photogrammetry for Location-Based Image Data (Enhanced with Immersive 360° Geotagging)

Course Description:

This comprehensive course will empower participants with the skills to geotag photographs and harness the power of photogrammetry for enhanced spatial analysis. We will delve into geotagging standard images, immersive 360° panoramas, and explore how to extract and utilize camera poses calculated through photogrammetry. By the end of the course, participants will be proficient in leveraging geotagged images, 360° content, and photogrammetric data for research, visualization, and immersive experiences.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand geotagging and its applications in various fields, including immersive GIS.
  • Learn the technical aspects of geotagging, including metadata, coordinate systems, and 360° image formats.
  • Explore geotagging methods (manual and automatic) for standard and 360° images.
  • Master tools and software for geotagging, mapping, visualizing 360° images, and photogrammetry.
  • Understand photogrammetry principles and how to extract camera poses from images.
  • Learn to export and utilize calculated camera poses in various applications.
  • Grasp ethical considerations involved in geotagging and privacy concerns, especially with immersive content.
  • Apply geotagging and photogrammetry to real-world scenarios, including immersive GIS projects.

Course Outline:
